The Downtown Exchange Wedding & Event Center

The most historically significant building in Haleyville, AL is the Feldman’s Department Store, now known as The Downtown Exchange.  Built in 1911 by John Dodd as a two-story brick building, it became Feldman’s Department Store in 1914 when it was purchased by Moses and Fanny Royal Feldman.  It was the first brick building in Haleyville and is the oldest surviving commercial building.  The store, along with professional and business offices on the second floor, operated until the late 1990’s. 

In 2015, the department store underwent an extensive renovation and was converted into a wedding and event venue with additional updates in 2025 by Greg and Cherie Sibley, a local couple with a passion for community and entrepreneurship

It was added to the National Register of Historic places August 12, 2009. 

The Ballroom

Built in 1911 as a mercantile building, the ballroom has been transformed into an elegant venue for weddings, elopements, engagements, conferences, meetings, concerts, photoshoots, and more.

With clean, simple lines, warm hardwood floors, soaring ceilings, elegant lighting, it’s the perfect place for your wedding ceremonies and lovely wedding reception in the banquet hall.  This room also accommodates bands, DJs, and dancing.

The Banquet Hall

The Banquet Hall is perfect for conferences, meetings, receptions, and can be opened up into the ballroom allowing accommodations for 200 people. 

This Hall offers a charming and unique setting for receptions, parties, and rehearsal dinners. It provides a full-service kitchenette for your catering needs.

Photo Sessions and Small Gatherings

Our second-floor space is designed for photo sessions and small gatherings. This is a perfect location for team planning, short term projects, management offices, out of town business interviews, and more. We also have a bridal bar, bridal suite, and groom rooms for wedding parties. 

These spaces offer the charm of exposed brick, simple accommodations, high-speed internet, vintage office decor, with an amazing view of downtown Haleyville.
